Welcome!
C’mon in, ya’ll! Welcome to our ever-changing, something-is-always-in-progress, humble abode. If you don’t mind stepping over the toys on the floor and a little bit of pet hair…then make yourself at home!
This old 1969’er is our first home, so naturally, we’re pretty proud of her. She’s worn her age well, but as with most old houses she’s needed some TLC and updating over the years.

She’s seen a lot of changes, both big and small. I swear we’ve painted every room at least two or three times. We exposed and refinished the original hardwood floors. We opened up and updated the kitchen, refreshed bathrooms, added on a deck, built a new fence and redesigned the landscaping.
We’ve swapped appliances, traded out light fixtures and hardware, and rotated furniture and decor items in and out more times than I can count.
We’ve learned a lot in this home…
like how to hang curtain rods, caulk baseboards and paint cabinets…
to some really important life lessons, too.
This little house has taught us that it’s not so much about the “house” but who you share it with that makes it special.
God’s blessed me with the gift of homemaking and this house has really been a way for God to show me just how important it is to love on others. My husband, my kids, and to all the friends and family who come and go from my home.
“Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift. Use it to serve one another as good sterwards of God’s varied grace.”
1 Peter 4: 9-10
I’ve also learned to slow down and enjoy the journey. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is a beautifully curated home.
I’ve learned that my decor style is always changing and that it’s totally and completely ok to make mistakes with decor or otherwise. Some of my favorite parts of our house were projects that originally started out as a big ‘ol OOOPSies!
My decor style? Ooooh, I don’t really know! If I had to nail it down, it would have to be a mix between farmhouse, cottage, traditional and a touch of coastal all mashed into one. I love to incorporate lots of grays and light colors anchored with wood tones and dark heavy pieces. I prefer clean lines and simplicty.
Living Room

The living and dining rooms are open to one another in the main living areas.
These pretty floors are original to the home. We ripped up the carpet and had the floors refinished. They were in decent shape so we had them sanded and finished with a clear coat of polyurethane.
The floors certainly aren’t perfect and some of the boards are a little squeaky…but I love how they add to the character and history of the home.
Dining Room
Our kitchen was once a little square room cut off from the open living and dining room areas. We had the wall opened up a bit (by a friendly and handy neighbor-thank you, Bob!) and added the butcher block serving area.
This really helped to make the kitchen feel a bit more open, it also added more counter space and we could finally see into the dining and living rooms when making dinner or entertaining.
GAME CHANGER!
…Or for me, a dream come true!
The french doors that you see leading out to the deck were a special gift from my mother-in-law.
Soon after we bought our home, Ian’s dad suddenly past away. He and Ian had made plans to team up as a super-duper dad and son duo to open up the wall with a french door and add a deck onto the back of the house.
Once he passed away, my mother-in-law made sure to make good on his promise and hired a contractor to do just that.
These new additions have been such a blessing to our little house and we just know that Ian’s dad is smiling down on us as we use the deck to spend time together hosting family and friends for birthday parties and bbq’s.

Kitchen

This little kitchen has been a labor of love. While I had hopes of doing a complete gut job in here, the reality is that it never quite fit in the budget.
Instead, we chose to DIY one project at a time until we finally got the kitchen we loved. (And on a dime, too.)
My favorite part of the kitchen, you ask??? The deep white Kohler cast iron sink! I luuurrrvve!
Master Bedroom & Bath

We chose to keep it pretty simple in here. Once we added the king-size bed (Another gift from my mother-in-law) we didn’t want it to feel overstuffed.
Instead, we created dimension by adding shiplap to the focal wall, kept the paint colors light and airy, and loaded the bed up with a soft duvet and pillows in a seafoam blue.

This technically is the master bathroom, although there’s nothing really “master” about it. HA!
I gave the old oak cabinet a mini makeover with a quick coat of paint. We updated the light fixture, added a new facet and swapped out the hardware.
Boys Bedroom & Hall Bath

Our boys share a room and when given the choice, they wouldn’t have it any other way.
The navy stripes on the wall act as focal points and inexpensive “headboards” for the twin beds. The dresser is from Pier 1 and was previously used in our master bedroom, but fit much better in this space.
Navy coverlets from Target, an inexpensive rug and DIY wall art make for a simple but cozy room for the boys.

Office

As nice as it is to have a designated space for my office, this room has been the thorn in my side for so long. And it’s really not the room’s fault, but the fact that this space has to pull a lot of weight.
This room functions as my office, my clothes closet, craft storage and overflow of whatever else…
I can’t tell you how many times this room ended up looking like a bomb went off in here. I usually keep the door closed and tell everyone to avoid opening the door at all costs!
The only thing that has worked in keeping this room neat and tidy is to make sure that I purge and do it often. (I fail most days here…)
Simplicity has been the key!

Playroom

Our playroom is a Pinterest favorite and although I might be a bit biased, I totally get it!
Having severe anxiety when trying to decide to how to keep alllll the kids’ stuff under some form of order is a REAL THING, ya’ll!
Ask me how I know????
With a whole lotta grace and a little Ikea (Ikea fixes everything) I was able to get our playroom whipped into shape.
That’s Alllll Folks!
That’s really all we got for now…There’s a few rooms that I haven’t included in here yet.
The guest bedroom, bathroom, laundry room are all places that are still a work in progress…hopefully I’ll be able to share those with you soon!
