Simple decor items from Amazon for creating a neutral fall porch
Hello October and welcome fall! Last Saturday was the official first day of fall and surprisingly our weather started to follow suit. We’ve had some overcast days, drizzling rain, and MUCH cooler temps. I almost needed a sweatshirt today when running errands after work. Fall is here, ya’ll!
Out of all of the seasons, summer is definitely my favorite! I always feel a little sad having to say goodbye to those long sunny days and warm nights. If it were my way, I’d be outside by the water every day and grilling on my deck every night. (With an icy cold drink in hand while watching my boys chase fireflies…ahhh, the perfect day!)
But there’s something special about when the seasons begin to change. I love the turning leaves, crisp air, and the smell of fireplaces burning in the neighborhood. I’m also a sucker for a cozy sweater, cute boots, and you’ll never see me turn down anything with pumpkin spice! ?
Fall Front Porch Decor
One of my favorite fall activities is to decorate the front porch. It’s become such a tradition in our house that we created a little nickname for it. LOL. We’ve dubbed it “creating our fall scene” and it usually includes a lot of planning and shopping. (My poor husband!)
In years past, I’ve gone the traditional route and decorated with reds, oranges, browns, and golds. I’d even get all “fancy” with it and include mums, hay barrels, scarecrows and pumpkins galore.
I still want to use all of those beautiful things, but this year I’m changing it up a bit. Instead of the traditional fall colors, I want to go with a more neutral color scheme. I’m thinking white mums and pumpkins, lambs ear as greenery, lanterns, and light aqua accents to coordinate with my front door.
Last spring we gave our front door a mini makeover. We repainted the door a pretty aqua color and I’m looking forward to decorating for fall with the new door color. (Waterscape by Sherwin Williams)
Since this is the last weekend before October, my plan is to get the porch decorations finished this weekend. We can then enjoy it all through October and November. It’s also a nice way to welcome family and friends over during the season as well. I just love a festive front door!
