Boho Coastal Florida Lanai Mood Board
Call me crazy, but I LOVE the world lanai.
lanai.
lanai..
lanai…
Doesn’t it just conjure up thoughts of warm tropical weather, cool refreshing drinks, naps on the porch and RELAXATION? I’m obsessed, really!!
So, when we moved to Florida and I found out that our little apartment had the cutest little lanai attached to it…I was super stoked!!
I’m even more excited to decorate it!! Can you say, “hello endless summer, dinners alfresco, fruity drinks with umbrellas while watching Florida thunderstorms roll in!”
EEEeeep! So exciting!!
It goes without saying, but this was definitely the space that I had to decorate first.
Now, if you’re new here…I just shared with the crew here that we recently moved to Florida from Maryland. We are currently renting an apartment for a year while we get to know the area and hunt for our next home.
You can read all about me {HERE} and all about our move down to Florida {HERE}.
Because we are only going to be living in our apartment for a year or so, I wrestled with the idea of even decorating at all.
But honestly, who am I kidding?! How could I not decorate at least a teeny bit?! I’d be so sad!! Interior design and home decor is part of my DNA, people!
(Even if that means decorating on a smaller scale and in a temporary way. I believe that it can be done, darlings.)

Lanai Before’s
Now let me share with you what our lanai’s current situation is…
Kinda dull, don’t you think?
The wicker settee was a clearance find from Pier 1 and I do plan on using it here. I’ve linked it down below. The metal farmhouse chairs were leftovers from our previous home and they were just out there so we could have something to sit on temporarily.
All the other stuff sitting around, it will be cleared out for a blank slate!
But I have to point out…look at our view….nothing but tropical trees and the pool peaking out in between…I swoon, ya’ll!
Thankfully with all the tropical trees and bushes we also have a lot of privacy! We are so happy about that!
Lanai Decor Plan
To get started, I plan on hanging up some sheer outdoor curtains. This will provide for more privacy but create a tropical, white-and-flowy-mosquito-net-vibe.
Kinda like this…
So dreamy, right?!
Sheer Mesh Lace Lanai Curtains
Sheer Mesh Lace Lanai Curtains
These curtains are from Ikea. You can snag them {HERE}. They are less than five bucks for two panels!! Say what? I ordered mine from Amazon to score the prime shipping. You can order them {HERE}.
Outdoor Furniture
We didn’t bother to take our old outdoor furniture with us down to Florida-we had used it for several years and it had seen better days-trust me!
So it was time to buy all new!! Yah!! I didn’t want to spend a lot and started scouring stores for sales and clearance finds.
At Pier 1, I was able to find a clearance sale on their outdoor furniture and I was able to stack a coupon on top of the sale. I ended up with these pieces for a total steal!
But…if we had a bigger lanai, I totally would have spent a little bit more for this outdoor loveseat.
Coral Bay Java Outdoor Loveseat
Aqua Outdoor Rug
Ya’ll know that I love all things aqua! I’ve been on the hunt for an aqua outdoor rug. This rug was found on Amazon and is part of the Safavieh Courtyard Collection. I’ve purchased a lot of rugs made by Safavieh and have always been super happy with them.
Boho Wood Accent Table
Because the lanai is an irregular shape and on the smaller size, a little accent table would probably fit best in this space. This wooden accent table adds a little touch of boho and is big enough to hold our tropical drinks and or a tray full of candles on a warm summer night. Doesn’t it just shout, “Boho Coastal Florida Lanai?!”
Wall Decor
Most of the Lanai is screened off, but there is one large wall that is just screaming for some decor. I’ve done a lot of thinking about what should be hung here and ultimately I thought that a large outdoor/boho wicker mirror would look great! I really like this one from Amazon, but I’ve seen similar ones at Target and in other stores.
Outdoor Lighting
I can’t wait to add some sparkly outdoor lighting to our lanai. We are so looking forward to sitting outside to relax in the evenings. I found these outdoor string lights and rattan lantern on Amazon, too.
Boho Coastal Outdoor Pillows
It’s no secret that I lurrrve me some throw pillows. Here’s a mix of pillows that have a boho coastal Florida vibe that I found at either Amazon or Pier 1.
Tropical Plants
What’s a Boho Coastal Florida lanai without some tropical plants?? I’ll be adding a few plants for some extra greenery and that oh-so-tropical vibe. Here’s a couple I liked on Amazon. How is easy to be able to order plants with prime shipping?! SaWeeet!
